For attorneys returning to a matter after several weeks, or for partners reviewing associates’ files, this eliminates the time spent re-reading the entire matter history. The summaries are contextual — they know what’s in the file, not just what you typed into a prompt.
In practice, this feature alone can save 15–30 minutes per matter review, and firms with high matter volume will feel the cumulative impact quickly.
2. Document Drafting Assistance

- Attorneys already on Advanced or Complete plans who haven’t explored Duo’s capabilities — the feature is available to you right now and may be underutilized.
- Practice groups with complex, long-running matters where matter summaries and status tracking add meaningful efficiency.
- Firms concerned about data privacy who don’t want to route client information through third-party AI tools outside their existing compliance perimeter.
Clio Duo is less compelling for:
- Solo attorneys on the Starter or Essentials plan where the upgrade cost may not be justified by usage volume.

But if you’re already on Clio Advanced or Complete, Duo is available to you now — and if you’re not using it, you’re leaving a meaningful productivity tool on the table.
